WorldPride 2021, A Lola Recap

WorldPride 2021, A Lola Recap

Viola World As the dust settles on the streets of Copenhagen after a raucous and flamboyant pride week we take the time to look back on the past few months and the amazing events and collections we have hosted and launched in partnership with this phenomenal event.  A New Collection...  Angie World and Viola Pride It started way back in April with the official launch of our brand new collection. Inspired by the Copenhagen 2021 logo all our styles this year were adorned with beautiful pride coloured polka dots bursting off the pristine white vegan leather. This collection was designed in vegan leather especially with inclusivity in mind, we wanted to make sure each and every person was able to wear a pair regardless of their size, gender or preference for material.  The response we got was phenomenal with members from both inside and outside the community lining up to get their hands on these one of a kind pieces. Luckily we still have a few left but they are the last of their kind so if you want them click the picture below to find the collection.  Ava Include and Viola World A Drag Party in Sankt Hans Gade... Ruaridh [Left] and Di Di  May rolled around but not in the way it usually does. This year we transformed our store on Sankt Hans Gade into our very own House of Lola. Our dear friend and collaborator Di Di Cancerella was on hand to transform our very own marketing manager Ruaridh into the glamorous queen you see on your screen now. This event was to give our customers a chance to try on our shoes in store on a beautiful and sunny Saturday in Copenhagen. We were joined by friends from the community as we spilled out onto the streets and chatted with passers by. The event gave our staff a real opportunity to gain some perspective for those in the community. Especially Ruaridh, who after 5 hours in drag gained a new appreciation for the term 'beauty is pain'.  Ruaridh... or is it Lola?  A Drag auction... Di Di and Adriana [Left] Our final event of this summer was our much anticipated Drag auction. Run as an official event of Copenhagen 2021 we also partnered with Foreningen for Støtte til Transkønnede Børn (FSTB) and Sabaah, a charity that works to improve conditions for LGBTQAI+ people from minority ethnic backgrounds.  For this event we went all out and pulled on all our resourced and compiled a list of fantastic lots from local Copenhagen businesses and people creating an awesome opportunity for people to come along and raise money for three amazing charities. The event was MC'd by our ever present Drag icon Di Di Cancerella, who had just arrived off the back of her huge win on TV2's Zulu's Store Dragdyst. Along with her friends Adriana La'Crème and Claire Couture and with the help of the mazing lots we managed to raise 18,000KR in just over 30 minutes. These funds were split three ways and distributed evenly amongst the charities involved.  This event helps to pump up our donation numbers for the year and will be added onto the total that has been built up by the sale of our WorldPride and our FSTB collections that both dropped this year.  The amazing one of a kind lamp donated by dMasque The future... We now look towards Copenhagen Pride 2022 and our third year of sponsorship involvement hoping that next year we can help even more to raise awareness to the struggle for equality that the Pride movement works so hard to highlight. We can't wait to see what the next year has in store. And if you want to be involved you can still purchase our FSTB and WorldPRide collections now on our store. Pride is not just for summer its a year round activity at Lola Ramona and one we absolutely are proud to be behind.

Lola Ramona x Copenhagen Pride Donation total - 48976DKK

We are thrilled to announce that the collaboration between Copenhagen Pride and Lola Ramona that ran throughout this year has raised a total of DKK 48976 that has been donated directly to the Copenhagen Pride organization to assist with causes surrounding the LGBTQAI+ community.   This initiative has been so warmly received by those in the community and those out with the community and has really inspired the team at Lola Ramona. We are driven to continue this good work for next year and the World Pride 2021 campaign. We cannot wait to share with everyone the new designs and to raise more money for a fantastic cause.   We would like to thank our partners, Copenhagen Pride, for all of their assistance with the campaign and helping us to spread the word about these wonderful products so we could reach as many people as possible.   Finally, we would like to thank you, the customer, for putting your hard earned cash into purchasing these gorgeous shoes in the knowledge that every cent gained would be going back to help people from the beautiful LGBTQAI+ community.   We look forward to introducing you to our new styles in the new year.   For now, Merry Christmas and we hope you have a fantastic new year.   All our love,   The Lola Team x
Lola Ramona x Copenhagen Pride BEHIND THE SCENES

Lola Ramona x Copenhagen Pride BEHIND THE SCENES

We are so pleased to be working close together with Copenhagen Pride. Being able to help support a good cause means a lot to Lola Ramona. So last month we decided to invite some members of the LGBTQAI+ community to our new store on Sankt Hans Gade for a day of shopping, chatting and fun!  The day was used to shoot a brand new promo video for our pride collection. We tried to highlight as many areas of the LGBTQAI+ community as possible. A huge thanks to DiDi Cancerella for helping us get in touch with so many awesome people! Here are some of the behind the scenes shots to give you a glimpse of what a great day it was. The mood was high and everyone was excited to see our new shop and try on the collection. Trying on shoes was not all we did. We talked, laughed, got to know each other and of course - Striked a pose or two!   Some loved the shoes and bags so much that trying them on just wasn't enough. Can you taste the rainbow? The end product of this amazing day was not only making new friends, but also talking about what this whole collaboration means to the community. Check out the video:   The final product is a wonderful portrayal of why we created this collaboration and why we will continue to support this community going forward. We can't wait for you guys to see the plans we have in store for the future and all the fun we will have along the way will be posted right here for you to enjoy.   You can help support people from the LGBTQAI+ community by purchasing any item from the Lola Ramona Pride Collection which gives all proceeds from sales directly to Copenhagen Pride! ❤️ Photo Credits: Anja Jargil Video Credits: Inspire Content Our Guests: Didi Cancerella, Ida Damgaard, Brynhildur the Drag, Paulie Calderon-Cifuentes, Noa, Remus, Niklas Hansen, Luke Ravens
A chat with our new partners, Copenhagen Pride!

A chat with our new partners, Copenhagen Pride!

Today marks the start of a hugely exciting Collaboration with Copenhagen Pride. For the next 3 years we will be working together to create beautiful and inclusive styles for people from all walks of life.  In the coming week all our new collection of Pride styles will be available for purchase with 100% of proceeds going to Copenhagen Pride to assist with causes close to the LGBTQIA+ community. We caught up with the team from pride to have a chat about this years event and the new collection...   So, What do you guys think about the new Lola Ramona X Pride collection?   We’re pretty ecstatic about the collection. The range of colorful looks from casual to pin-up is eye-catching in itself, but the fact that they are available in sizes up to 46 is great for our community. Whether you’re experimenting with your gender expression or if you’ve already mastered your style, Lola Ramona’s collection gives you more options to play with – and in an explosion of rainbow colors in a tasteful and clever way at that. Well done!   Covid is a problem that the whole world faces but it’s good to know that Pride week will endure in some capacity this year, what can we expect from this years event?   We’re glad you asked! The main point is that of course, Copenhagen Pride Week will endure, even though Covid was a huge setback to begin with. But as with all other challenges we encounter, we have a high capacity for creative and out-of-the-box thinkers in our organization, and we’re quite proud of being able to serve our community despite lacking the opportunity to gather as we are used to. As for many other event organizers, the solution is digital. Where we differ is that we are providing a virtual platform where users amongst other things can browse around virtual representations of the city and learn about LGBTI+ history, interact live with the debates and panel discussions – or watch them on demand whenever they please. The iconic parade will also be “translated” into an online presence of sorts, which we are looking forward to introducing further. The week will end with a sort of premiere: Denmark’s first XR (eXtended Reality) experience for the final show Saturday evening. Marilyn Queen   When you buy a pair of Lola Ramona X CPH Pride shoes all of the proceeds of the shoes go to the Copenhagen Pride organization. So what sort of causes and programs will this money go into?   The funds collected will be used for Copenhagen Pride's work to promote the safety and rights of LGBTI+ people in Denmark and internationally, including our solidarity Fund, that annually awards funds to causes and organizations in Denmark and abroad.  Serena Pride   Next year Copenhagen is hosting World Pride 2021, what exciting events can the city look forward to?   Copenhagen 2021 is a joint celebration of WorldPride and EuroGames taking place from 12-22 August 2021 and welcoming 750,000 visitors to Copenhagen and Malmö. Expect world-class entertainment and cultural events, more than 25 sports tournaments, an international human rights conference and an incredible WorldPride Parade. Above all, know that #YouAreIncluded at Copenhagen 2021! (More information on www.copenhagen2021.com) Viola Pride --- Check out the Pride Collection here!

Harley Queen - Copenhagen drag icon talks to us about her love for Lola

6 years ago I was strutting the streets of Copenhagen as new queen. Gorgeous, fierce, with a devil may care personality I quickly landed a job as a hostess at Saint Gertrudes Convent (nightclub, very Berlin..) I was there every Friday and Saturday night .. in heels. Of course from Jette Riis on sale. (Size 40=Always on sale) So Even my spare shoes were heels, just as high only with a chunky heel. “Flats are for quitters!” -Rupaul Jette Riis shoes, for my need, was no way near durable enough for me. The heels would bend or snap off the zipper breaks and the construction would just give up... Then one night, at work, during a break and fag. A woman comes up to me, black hair I think it was maybe a striped T-shirt. I don’t remember her name though. (Sorryyy, your fault for saying free pair of shoes!!) She said, "I have just the pair of shoes for you. Lola Ramona, Pumps, black, Monday come!"  I went, slipped on a pair of black Marilyns, stood up, took a few steps and bam! Love!  The way the stiletto is designed is beyond me. So much support and comfort, like crocs but with brains behind it. All materials are very durable. genuine leather, suede, cork, even vegan leather. Lola Ramona supports several organisations such as ‘red shoe movement’, ‘The children’s office’ and more.  So when you purchase a shoe, bag etc. know that your feet will thank you for years to come, 6 years later I still have my very first pair of Marilyns. But you will also know that you empower women, fight cancer, help less fortunate families and the list continues.  This is why I love Lola Ramona! Both challenging my shoe hoarding and making a difference I the world ...You know what your shoe, bag etc. helps fund, but I guarantee you that at least one person will stop and compliment your item.  “She who dies with the most shoes wins” Game on! xxHarley Queen Those who die without any prejudices win! instagram.com/theonly_harleyqueen/
